![]() About multiple accountsIn case you didn’t know, the house points are averaged based on the number of people in each house. Many people are making multiple accounts to check their sorting results, or to do something similar. This means that once a second or third account is sorted, the player will often use only one account, leaving the others as ghost accounts to gather dust. Since house points are averaged, ghost accounts are actually hurting the houses and skewing the house points — an empty account simply sucks house points from whatever house it’s in. Pottermore states in its terms that they can delete an account that’s been inactive for six months or longer, but within those six months, all those ghost accounts are messing with the hourglasses. Just be aware of what your double- and triple-checking is doing to the rest of Pottermore. As for the people who make multiple accounts to sabotage different houses… Well. Just think of the people who are trying honestly to win the house cup. April 20, 2012 at 3:45 AM | Post Permalink | 14 notes
![]() Welcome to all new students! If you have recently joined Pottermore after its public release, the four sites offers you a warm welcome! Whether you’re a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw, you’re always welcome in any of the four house sites. Be sure to check out the Pottermore help pages (you’ll find them on any of the sites — although the Ravenclaw’s help pages are a bit of a puzzle) as well as the chats and role play forum. If you have any questions, feel free to ask around or to send an email to your respective site’s administrators. Again, welcome to Pottermore and the four house sites! We’re very happy to have you :) Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. April 19, 2012 at 8:08 AM | Post Permalink | 1 note

![]() First, you would have to decide what blogging service to use — e.g. Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, LiveJournal, and so on. If you choose to do so, you can buy your own domain name, meaning you wouldn’t have the blogging service’s name in your url (although this means redirecting your blog to your domain, which could be tricky). Any further setup would depend on the blogging service and how it works. I would suggest that you research each blogging service and compare them to see which suits you best. Then, make your blog. Be sure to make aesthetically pleasing, easily navigable, and interesting. Try looking at other successful blogs to get some ideas. Once you’ve got a blog set up, it’s important to have good, consistent material and to network enough to spread your blog and gain a following. I hope that helps! - Sparks January 30, 2012 at 2:38 PM | Post Permalink

![]() Podcast — what do you think? We are considering creating a podcast that would run across all four sites. Podcasts would be embedded into each site’s Great Hall page and streamed live, meaning everyone would hear it at the same time. The idea is that people could chat about it as they listen. Every aired podcast would be archived in a designated page on each site so that people can listen to them after their air date. We are thinking that we would air a podcast every two weeks. If you are interested in organizing the podcast or being a podcast host, please email hogwartsheadmasters@gmail.com and let us know. If you like the idea of a podcast and would like to see it happen, please answer this post and let us know what you think AND what time zone you are in (in GMT/UTC format) so that we may determine an air time that suits most of our listeners. If you have any questions feel free to answer this post, message us, or email us. January 29, 2012 at 9:42 PM | Post Permalink
![]() Admins and mods still needed! If you are a Hufflepuff or a Slytherin on Pottermore and would like to help run or moderate a Hufflepuff or Slytherin site, please let us know as we are really short on site staff. We need moderators to mod the chats and the forum as well as a couple administrator to help run the site itself. You can contact us either by sending a message or by emailing one of two email addresses: if you are a Hufflepuff, email admin@hufflepuffsofpottermore.com. If you are a Slytherin, email admin@slytherinsofpottermore.com. Again, we are really short on staff so any volunteers would be much appreciated.
